Blonde Hair, Blue Eyed King Slain At Bosworth?

Richard III reconstructed face has been updated to include blue eyes and blonde hair.

DNA tests performed last year by Dr. Turi King at the University of Leicester revealed that the king had blue eyes and blonde hair when he was a child.

This is contrary to numerous portraits and the original model of Richard III revealed in 2013. The creator of the original likeness, Professor Caroline Wilkinson, of Liverpool John Moores University, took four hours to update the display at the King Richard III Visitor centre in Leicester.

Professor Wilkinson told the Leicester Mercury that "it was a delicate task to remove the eyes and replace with lighter ones, as they are made of glass. The hair colour has also been updated, including eyebrows and eyelashes."

The original model based on Richard III's skull
The model was created from the bone structure of the King buried in Greyfriars Church in Leicester after dying at the Battle of Bosworth on August 22 1485. His remains were discovered underneath a Leicester car park in 2012.

I am slightly dubious of the changes made to Wilkinson's model. Many, including myself, see their blonde childhood locks later change to brown and Richard III is likely to have brown hair when going into battle against Henry Tudor.

But don't they say 'blondes have more fun'?
